Schools in the Sea To Sky School District

The Sea to Sky School District is a progressive school system offering a full range of education programs and services.  The educators of Sea to Sky work very closely together to achieve common learning goals.

Courses of study are based on the competencies: Collaboration, Contribution, Creation & Innovation and Thinking Critically.  Courses in all of our Secondary Schools include:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Physical Education
  • Social Studies
  • Sciences
  • Computer Sciences
  • Fine Arts (Art, Drama, Music)
  • Business Education
  • Languages
  • Tech & Home Economics
  • Career & Personal Planning

Due to the relatively small size of these schools we are able to offer a personalized service to students. All schools have current libraries, computers/laptops, gymnasiums, art, band, theatre and fully operational science labs. All secondary schools are new or recently renovated so the facilities are technologically equipped to meet the needs of the 21st century.

Our schools offer Career Programs which combine academic foundation studies, selected studies in a career area, and related work experience for senior students.

The district has tremendous outdoor education resources. Students are able to participate in such activities as hiking, golfing, sailing, rock climbing, windsurfing, basketball, volleyball, badminton, biking, bowling, skating and swimming. There are a number of Academies to which International students may apply, including Cycling Academy at Howe Sound Secondary, Soccer Academy at Whistler Secondary and Ski/Board/Bike Academy at Pemberton Secondary, to name some.  More information is available on request from: jnelson@sd48.bc.ca (Ms. Jody Nelson, Recruitment Advising).

Many International Students who come to Sea To Sky plan to complete their secondary school education and then enter a University or College in Canada or the United States. Students who graduate from the Sea to Sky School District may enter into Capilano University, our local post secondary institute. It is also possible to commute to the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University from within our district.  Our International students have recently been  successful gaining entrance to UBC Okanagan, UBC Vancouver and Langara College, among others.
